Glenside Residence

The client had a specific wish list for a compact space and a modest budget. The existing floor plan consisted of three unrelated spaces separated from each other by structural walls and doorways. Within the footprint of the existing galley kitchen, breakfast area and former garage/family room, the new design incorporates an up to date kitchen with a seating peninsula, an informal dining area with a table for 4, an area for bookshelves and a reading chair and a first floor powder room.

The final layout seamlessly links new and existing interior and exterior spaces. The new kitchen and informal dining area, at the rear of the house, take advantage of an existing bay window and views to a lush garden and terrace.

The owner said of the design "The result is a real living space used to cook, eat, read, talk, do art work, listen to music and enjoy the backyard.  It is truly a multipurpose room….adapting our wish list to our small budget and space."
